Hamish Sutherland - MANAGING DIRECTOR

Hamish is responsible for managing the business activities of HG Turf and HG Turf Maintenance. Hamish directly oversees all stadium business.

Experience: Project management / Sports field design, construction and maintenance / Diversified agricultural experience. University of New England, ACA.

Gavin Sutherland - DIRECTOR

Gavin is responsible for managing the company’s farming activities, including the production and supply of premium quality turf and seed products. The farming enterprise employs 30 staff.

Experience: Cultivation of turf and lawn seed for the sports turf industry and home lawn markets / Diversified agricultural experience. Marcus Oldham Agricultural College.

Ross Sutherland - FOUNDER

Ross is the father of Hamish and Gavin, and is the founder of the family’s turf and seed businesses. Ross was a pioneer of the Australian seed industry EST.1958 and commenced turf farming in 1992.

Experience: Cultivation and marketing of turf and lawn seed for the sports turf industry and home lawn markets / Diversified agricultural experience. Lincoln Agricultural College NZ.

Paul Brooks - COMPANY ACCOUNTANT

Paul is responsible for managing the accounting functions of the company, including management and financial reporting.

He has extensive accounting experience with a wide range of organisations, and a Bachelor of Business degree from RMIT University.

Peter van Leeuwen - RETAIL SALES MANAGER

Peter is responsible for the marketing and sales of household turf, lawn seed and lawn care products to retail customers.

Experience: Peter is the former Horticultural Manager of Norwood Industries, Australia’s largest printer of Horticultural labels. Peter has 18 years experience in the horticultural industry, both in retail and wholesale, including: Sales management / Customer service, in Australia and USA. Swinburne College.

Daniel Copsey - COMMERCIAL SALES MANAGER

Daniel is responsible for the sales and marketing of turf and turf products to our trade and commercial clients. He is also responsible for the project management of commercial installation works undertaken by HG for our civil landscape contractors.

Experience: Daniel has been in the landscape construction industry now for 10 years. With a diversified background of experience in domestic and commercial landscape and maintenance works. Daniel has worked for two of Melbourne’s biggest and well known commercial landscape companies. Ranging in roles from foreman to project manager. He has worked on some of Melbourne’s biggest iconic projects including, Chadstone shopping centre, Flemington Racecourse, Docklands and Victoria Harbor and Water gardens Shopping centre. Cathy Marshall - OFFICE MANAGER

Cathy is responsible for the administration of the company’s Melbourne office, which activities include accounting, banking and payroll. Cathy has held numerous responsibilities within a number of businesses over 23 years, both in Australia and in the UK.

Experience: Small business Administration / Accountancy / Payroll / Finance. Treshma Institute UK.

Jane McMenaman - INTERNAL SALES

Jane is a member of our internal sales team at our Melbourne office.

Experience: Customer Service / Sales / Landscaping / Garden Maintenance / Administration

Gayle Cranston - INTERNAL SALES

Gayle is a member of our internal sales team at our Melbourne office.

Experience: Bookkeeping, payroll, customer service, administration and internal sales in the manufacturing, hospitality and security industries.

Michelle Carmichael - INTERNAL SALES

Michelle is a member of our internal sales team at our Melbourne office.

Experience: Sales and customer service in the horticultural industry.
