BRISBANE CRICKET GROUND TRUST - Brisbane (QLD)
The Board of the Brisbane Cricket Ground Trust took a brave decision based upon the capabilities of HG Turf. The Trust realized the need to rebuild the field prior to co-hosting the Olympic Soccer tournament in September 2000. The old field had poor drainage and inconsistent surface levels. With both summer (cricket) and winter (AFL) tenants requiring the field for competition, the scope for reconstructing the field was limited and no delays could be accommodated.
Fortunately the Trust was able to reschedule the final matches of the cricket season and the early matches of the football season elsewhere, thus providing HG Turf with a tight
3-month construction window.
Whilst one team from HG Turf rebuilt the field, another team established 20,000m² of Motz Stabilized Turf in a nearby turf nursery. The new field design, a High Performance Gravity (HPG) field system, incorporated drainage, irrigation and an all-weather sand profile. The 3-month old turf was then harvested and installed over the new field system, and made ready for immediate play.
